All eyes were on Nigeria as they inaugurate President Buhari and his Vice, Osinbajo for the second term at the Eagles Square in Abuja, Nigeria.
The Acting Chief Judge of Nigeria, Mohammad Tanko was present to conduct the swearing in.
During the inauguration, Christian and Muslim prayer was held for the president and the country followed by the lowering and hoisting of the National and defence flag which symbolize the end of the immediate past administration and the beginning of a new administration.
There were moves from the military in review command as well as 21 gun salute.
The inspection of the guard of honour by the President and was cheered by the guest.
The President and his Vice didn’t deliver any speech.
A veteran journalist, Olusesan Ekisola told Reference Daily News reporter the reason for not giving their speech that,
“I believe it is in the spirit of moving the day to June 12 and an attempt to diminish the ranking of May 29th and reduce its importance”.
Present at the inauguration were, the APC National leader, co-chairman of the 2019 presidential campaign council, the Senate president, the speaker of the house of representatives, former EFCC chairman.
The former head of state, Yakubu Gowon, the wife of the president and vice, APC National chairman and other members of the immediate past cabinet were also present for the inauguration.
Immediate past governor of Edo state, Ekiti state, Osun state, Kogi state, Ondo State, Ogun state, Zamfara state were also present.
Senator Godswill Akpabio and members of the diplomatic Corp were also present.
Today, all road leading to the Eagles square and the venue itself was placed under heavy security.
