President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter of request to the Senate for the confirmation of Justice Muhammad as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.

On Wednesday afternoon, The Senate affirmed Justice Tanko Muhammad as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria after being screened in a closed-door event.

He was asked various questions on the independence of the judiciary, administration of criminal justice, corruption and the poor funding of the judiciary which he responded to.
The screening reportedly lasted for 90 minutes.

Last week Thursday, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter of request to the Senate for the confirmation of Justice Muhammad as substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.

The letter of request by the president followed after a recommendation by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to appoint Justice Tanko as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria.
