Senator Ahmed Lawal, Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Ahmed, said, the seven former senators who were nominated for ministerial appointment won’t be screened like others but allowed to “take a bow”.
He said this during ongoing ministerial screening at the Senate on Wednesday.
The former senators are Godswill Akpabio, Gbemisola Saraki, Hadi Sirika, George Akume, Olorunnimbe Mamora, Chris Ngige and Tayo Alasoadura.
Emeka Nwajuiba, who is also a current member of the House of representative, was allowed to “take a bow”.
The Senate leader said, “the move was part of the longstanding tradition of the Senate that all former lawmakers nominated for appointments are given an automatic endorsement.”
