The senator representing Kogi West senatorial district, Senator Dino Melaye has lost his senatorial mandate after been sacked by the Kogi State National Assembly and State Assembly Elections Petitions Tribunal.
This judgement was announced on Friday morning by Justice Anthony Chijioke who led the three-man panel, thereby order a new election process.
The PDP’s Senator Dino Melaye was declared the winner of the February 2019 National Assembly election, contrary to his victory, his major opponent, APC’s Senator Smart Adeyemi went to tribunal to confront Melaye’s victory.

His complaints were irregularities, over voting and non-compliance with the electoral acts.
After much sitting, the tribunal declared Adeyemi winner and sacked Melaye, order for re-election.
In response, Dino Melaye disregarded the tribunal judgement and vowed to proceed to Appeal Court where he believes he will win.
