The Ekiti State Students’ Union body has summon the governor Kayode Fayemi, the executive governor of the state and the Nigeria Police to free all the students they nabbed during a protest which led to the death of two students of the Federal University Oye Ekiti, by a suspected policemen who is believed to be a security to First Lady of Ekiti, Bisi.
The President of the student union, Jide Akomolafe, has vowed to go tough in a fresh protest if their compatriots were not released from police custody.
According to him, “The student union dismiss an ordinary visit without compensation to the families of the gallant comrades who lost their lives as we have earlier asked the state government.
“We vehemently call on the Government of Ekiti State on the basis of its importance make known publicly the compensation to be given to the families of the deceased, take responsibility of the hospital bills of the two students in critical conditions in hospital while the Nigeria Police Force should ensure the unconditional release of students in detention.”
“They must also interrogate, investigate and prosecute the security personnel especially the police who partook in the attack and the killing of our colleagues who were exercising their fundamental human rights.”
“We would forcefully hold another massive protest next week since the government of Ekiti state and the police authorities failed to comply with our demands.”
