Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the OONI of Ife has advice the Economic and Financial Crime Commission on what to do to criminals arrested for cybercrimes.
The Oba spoke with the commission during their courtesy visit to Ile-Ife. While welcoming the EFCC delegate from the South-West Zonal Office, the OONI said it’s obvious that cybercrimes have gone beyond measures among our youths, but he believed many were ignorant of these acts and the danger it poses.
“I greatly support your fight against offenders both in the private and public sector, I want to advise you to try to orientate those arrested, preferably the youths in the cybercrime offences.”
“Part of the orientation would be to make them know you’re not their enemy.”
“Create a sensitisation event for them, make them see the purpose of the commission and why you’re carrying out this action which is to make Nigeria a better place for all of us.”
“If this can be done, the crime among youths would drastically reduce”.
