Send Female Soldiers To Battle Insecurity – Aisha Buhari

Mrs Aisha Buhari, the wife of the President, on Thursday has challenged and bemoaned on the military head to send more female soldiers for internal security assignments.

The essentiality of the female sex must be efficiently unveiled in battling the security issues that have affected the country.

She said the country has been battling security challenges because the Nigeria Armed Forces haven’t recognized the role and virtue of our women and launch their strength for operational effectiveness.

She expresses this concern during her speech at the opening ceremony of the Defence Headquarters maiden annual conference on women peace and security at the National Defence College, Abuja themed, ‘The imperative of gender mainstreaming in the Armed Forces for operational effectiveness.’ She was represented by a Senior Special Assistant, Dr Hajo Sani.

“The security problem bewildering the country still stands on the basis that we haven’t restructured the Armed Forces of Nigeria to make use of the strength of our females for operational effectiveness.”

“the military Women have the attributes of patience, perseverance, and passion.”

“There is a need for the reformulation of laws and policies that border on the inclusion of women in the strategic reformation of effective operational deployment. The wide margin and lack of flexibility in structures based on gender should be abridged.

“Women are limited to a task within supportive mustering of the military community such as finance, human resources, personnel, logistics, medical services and welfare.”

She further said she wants the military women to be exempted to such psychological oppression.
