The Department of State Services (DSS), reported that Faisal, the 20 years old son of Abdulrasheed Maina, the former Chairman of the Pension Reform Task Team (PRTT), pulled a pistol and wanted to shoot at their security operatives while they were trying to arrest him and his father.
Peter Afunanya, the agency Public Relations Officer, revealed this via a statement.
He said, “in an attempt to resist the arrest, his 20-year-old named Faisal pulled out a pistol, but he was not successful.
He, however, was disarmed and arrested with his father at the Pennsylvania Avenue Hotel, Utako, Abuja.
Maina was arrested about four years after he was declared wanted by the anti-graft for an alleged N2 billion embezzling in November 2015.
Thereafter, he got missing, then later show up in October 2017 and was later appointed as a Director in the Ministry of Interior – a condition that led to much criticism from Nigerians.
According to the DSS, they were able to arrest him with the support the security and law enforcement agencies.
A pistol with live ammunition, a bulletproof Range Rover SUV, a BMW Saloon car, foreign currencies, a Phantom 7 drone and sensitive documents were recovered from Maina and his son.
The duo has been handed over to the EFCC for further investigations.
