A special meeting by the Federal Executive Council which was earlier slated for Saturday would take place today Monday, October 7, 2019, by noon.
Mr Femi Adesina, who is the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity announced that the FEC meeting “is to put the finishing touches to the year 2020 budget, which would still be presented to the National Assembly by 2 pm on Tuesday.”
The report gathered revealed that the Senate had been communicated officially by President Muhammadu Buhari to present the Appropriation bill for 2020 before the National Assembly joint session on Tuesday.
The letter was sent on October 2, 2019, and directed to the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, was read during the plenary on Thursday.
Furthermore, after a long session of debate by the Senate on Thursday, all the 16 recommendations that were contained in the National Assembly Joint Committee report on Finance and National Planning, was approved on the 2020-2022 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.
The upper chamber, however, had increased the proposed national budget for 2020 from N10.002trn to N10.729.4trn.
In response, the President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, said: “The development had led the path for President Muhammadu Buhari to present the 2020 budget.”
