Ibrahim Magu, the long-time acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), has separate himself and the anti-corruption agency from political influence, adding that he’s coming after anyone accused of corruption.
He said this while addressing journalists in Abuja early Tuesday morning, “I don’t care who you are, where you come from. The political inclination is not an issue, so there is no question of identifying the chairman of a political party under investigation.”
“If you are corrupt, I’ll go after you. You can see the two governors who were convicted were APC governors; there is no doubt about that.”, he added.
He noted that the commission won’t invite anyone base on what people say, rather except if there is something associated to the suspect.
“If you are corrupt, we make sure a proper and thorough preliminary investigation is conducted before we go after you, that’s why if you are invited by EFCC, there must be something.”
“We don’t associate fear here but it’s helping us” he concluded.
