Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu has been traced to 8 luxurious properties in Dubai worth over N1.8 Trillion.
One of the properties is located on the twelfth floor of Dubai’s Capital Bay Towers development.
Bagudu was a known associate of former Nigerian dictator Sani Abacha, who was accused of stealing more than $2.2 billion of public funds during his five-year tenure as Nigerian president in the 1990s.
Court document also reveals how Bagudu and Sani Abacha’s son, Mohammed Abacha, greatly inflated prices generated and shared a $282 million windfall.
Report also have it that the Kebbi Mr. Bagudu was arrested and extradited from Houston, Texas at the request of New Jersey, where the Kebbi State governor had set up a shell company called Doraville Properties to launder funds stolen from Nigeria.
He begged for settlement, reached an agreement to return $160 million of stolen money in exchange for deportation to Nigeria to face trial.
