Videos going viral on the internet showing some residents of Lagos on Thursday storming a warehouse where COVID-19 palliatives supposed to be distributed to the masses are kept at Mazamaza community in Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Lagos State by the Nigerian government.
The warehouse was discovered by the hoodlums, who after securing their passage into the warehouse, carted away with some COVID-19 palliatives.
The Lagos warehouse is located on Benster Crescent, popularly called Monkey Village.
It was gathered that the hoodlums also set a bonfire at a junction not far from the warehouse.
It was also gathered from the video that the hoodlums gave residents in the area access to move into the warehouse and gather some palliatives.
From the video, the palliatives were branded.
From the video, it was clearly heard from the background, “our food are many there, foods are many, a warehouse of 600ft x 600ft, Covid-19 palliatives was discovered there today”.
“People can be seen struggling in the carnal to cart away with the palliatives, both young and old since 7am, how can the government let Nigerians die in hunger and starvation.”, the residents Lament.
Another person said, the warehouse is fully loaded and people have been moving the palliatives for over 2 hours, there’s more than enough.
Further reports gathered that, some members of the Nigerian Police, Nigerian Army, immigration, customs, lastma have been there to take theirs into the truck, yet the guy warehouse is yet to be half looted as at the time of the filming.
The palliatives that were supposed to be given out since May are kept till October.
It was also learnt that another warehouse is in Ikeja.
